A message from Mr. Barnett:
The Great BISD has moved from F to C as a district in the accountability rating system.  Due to our district being so damaged by Hurricane Harvey, TEA will not release our rating to the public unless we make an A.  This is very fair considering that many districts were put at a major disadvantage.  If you were fortunate enough to get a met standards score through this devastation, TEA will allow you to take that score.  If you fell short on any campus or as a district, they will not count it against you for this score.
BHS will not be rated this year, due to falling short in the closing the gaps index.  We believe we did not get earned credit for certain areas, so we are looking to file an appeal.  We also know what we need to focus on to meet all of the indexes this school year.
BES made a C and is now out of IR after being in that category for two years.  We want to thank everyone involved in helping make this happen, and we know we still have a lot of work to do as we move our students forward.
BMS made a C and is now in the met standard category.  For the first time in 7 years of STAAR testing, BMS met every standard.  They also earned a distinction in ELA/Reading for doing such a great job in that tested area.
We know we are not close to where we see our great district being, but I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish during a time so challenging that it could have destroyed many districts.  Please take time to celebrate what is going on in BISD and know that we can and will do more for our kids with the help of everyone in the community.  I am so very proud of the Great BISD Community.  High Expectations!  No Excuses!  Go Cats Go!
Please brag on us and your kids to everyone you can!
