Over the weekend, 5 middle school art students took their artwork to compete in the Junior Visual Arts Scholastic Event (Jr VASE). Of these students, Emery Rendon, Amelia Rosales and Debani Castro-Espinoza received medals for their excellent work at the regional level. Debani Castro-Espinoza also received the highest honor of a platinum medal for his work titled "Evolution". These artworks will all be on display to the public at the student showcase in May. Congratulations to these artists for their hard work.
Parents, a fire alarm sounded at the middle school and high school at approximately 11:45 am today. There was brief confusion about it being a fire alarm or a lockdown, but it was a fire alarm. Both campuses were cleared immediately and everyone is safe.

Statement from Superintendent Mark Anglin:
To the staff, students, parents and community members of Bloomington ISD,
I have made the difficult decision to retire. I want everyone to know that this has been the best job I have ever had. Bloomington has some of the greatest students and staff that I have ever worked with, and the School Board, parents and community have been very supportive. I have made this decision knowing that it is the best decision for my family. I have a wife, two children and three grandchildren that need me. I love the students of Bloomington and I will miss them the most.
